Fleet Street Clinic: Biohazard personal protection for news media personnel

This video explains how to put on and remove protective coveralls and related equipment such as gloves and respirators. It features Ian Samson from DuPont (the makers of the most widely used types of coverall), and was recorded in 2006 when news media staff found themselves filming in situations with a significant risk of biohazard exposure, though the key points are valid for any similar exposure to dangerous pathogens. We strongly recommend making sure that any coverall you use is the correct size - one size does not fit all; and familiarising yourself with the equipment BEFORE using it in a hazardous situation, or seeking training - since it is very easy to contaminate yourself whilst removing it. The white coverall in this video is made of Tyvek, but the same principles apply to other types.
